The Story of Your Beef

The Story of Your Beef

Proudly produced in the USA

Your HRA Beef begins with great care… It begins with generations of knowledge, clean water, and fresh air. It’s nurtured with hands, with hearts, and with science. We know you care about the food you serve your family and friends, because we do too. Your best beef is our best beef and we invite you in to learn why.

Cattle Breeds

While we may be a bit biased, when it comes to beef breeds, Angus is where it’s at. With a rich North American history of producing some of the world’s best beef, there’s a reason it’s also Your Best Beef.

Animal Welfare

A healthy animal, who has been cared for, fed, and nurtured, will always produce superior beef. Care is what we do, because it’s what we’ve always done, and what helps us deliver on our promise to you.

Sustainability & Environment

Generations of ranchers have taken great care to pass their land on to the next generation. In order to ranch healthy cattle, the land and water all need to be healthy too. Being sustainable is also about eating ‘nose to tail’ and our production methods. By integrating generations of knowledge with up to date technologies, beef production can continue to be a sustainable part of the food supply.

Our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability is on par with our commitment to quality beef:

We focus on single plant sourcing to ensure continuity of craftsmanship and consistency

Close monitoring and maintenance of water and soil quality

Identifying grazing regions that minimize environmental impact

Optimizing our delivery of ecosystem services and minimizing our environmental footprint

Always adhering to state and federal laws that protect the natural environment

Food Safety

Food safety is no joke.

Your family's safety is our top priority – as it is yours. High River Angus® takes every precaution along the way to ensure the product you purchase is safe and wholesome, however, there are extra steps that need to be taken in your home to provide the highest-quality meal.

How to Properly Store Beef

As with all food, food safety practices need to be carried over into your home. In order to make sure you are serving the highest quality beef, please follow these guidelines:

Storage:

  • 3-5 days in the refrigerator
  • 6-12 months in the freezer (roast)
  • 4-6 months in the freezer (steaks)
  • 3-4 months in the freezer (stew)

Here are some basic guidelines for storing meat in the refrigerator:

  • Raw ground meats, all poultry, seafood, and variety meats: Refrigerate 1 to 2 days
  • Raw roasts, steaks, and chops (beef, veal, lamb, and pork): Refrigerate 3 to 5 days
  • Cooked meat, poultry, and seafood: Store in the refrigerator 3 to 4 days

Cooking Ground Beef

To cook ground beef safely, please ensure it is cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit (71 degrees Celsius).

Additional Tips:

  • Keep refrigerated below 40 degrees Fahrenheit until prep time
  • Prepare on a clean surface
  • Always wash any surface on which raw meat sat prior to using it for cooked meat in order to avoid cross-contamination
  • Test the internal temperature before serving
  • Store & refrigerate leftovers in an air-tight container
